Equipment was good too. All modern Macs, and high quality monitors in retouching suite. Elinchrom generators, pocket wizard transceivers, Manfrotto and Impact lighting stands, tripods etc. Large format cameras for student use, and a medium format to hire out. A students studio to be booked and used for 2 three hour sessions a week each. There was plenty!
I had just turned 26 when I started at Speos. There were people of all ages however! I think they youngest may have been 19 and the oldest possibly around 50? And in between it was very much spread out and there was definitely no ‘norm’. We all mixed and mingled. It was great :) and class size was between 12 and 15 students, so it was very good.
Hi Marie-Angela,
Thanks! I’m glad you like the blog. It was so amazing living in Paris and studying at Speos, and I definitely recommend you do it if you want to improve your French, study photography and live there!! Depending on whether or not you plan on changing your career to professional photography or just learn photography to have the basic knowledge will depend on if you do the 32 week program or the masters. However I did the 32 week program as I couldn’t afford the extra $10,000 to do a few more weeks of study and my career is as a professional photographer. I don’t feel I have missed out not doing the masters. Everything I needed to learn I learned in the 32 weeks, it just depends on what you can afford. I suggest you go to the website and read up on the selected programs to see which best suits you. The pricing is on the website as well!
I hope this helps!

Thanks :)
So the long awaited dream of living and studying in Paris has come full circle. It’s been such an amazing part of my life and I hope you enjoyed the parts of it I could share.
If I could put an atmosphere to the feeling of leaving this city it would be cloaked in a tune from Bon Iver, lit with mustard coloured light and infused with the taste of fresh cherries. A little romantic I know, but it’s really sad to be gone so I may be a little soppy.
As for this blog…I’ll be changing it slowly to have a new name and look, but until then will be keeping the same URL.
Merci beaucoup to everyone in Paris for making this time so amazing, and to the city itself for being so amazing.
During this year in Paris, I had the pleasure of meeting Remi Quilichini. A talented steadicam operator, Remi works freelance in Paris and has an awesome showreel of work from the last two years. Take a look.
The Delyan Cafe
The place of interest today was introduced to me by my good friend Deborah Sfez this past winter in Paris. Paris can be a pretty cold and grey place during these months, so in need of a slice of cake and a warm coffee we wound up at the Delyan cafe. Right near Hotel de Ville at 8 rue Saint-Martin, it is very central yet quite hard to find if you don’t know what you’re looking for.
The cafe serves a huge range of teas, as well as the usual cafe drinks, savoury food and the best part, an amazing assortment of home made cakes and slices.
Upstairs you will find a comfy casual atmosphere with huge sofas, stuffed chairs and tables next to windows overlooking the Parc de la Tour Saint-Jacques. In winter time this place is heaven as the windows fog over and you forget about the wind and rain outside while you eat your chocolate cake and drink your latte. In summer the windows are wide open and a nice little breeze sneaks in the windows reminding you how lovely the weather is.

Have A Nice Day
H.A.N.D American style restaurant is located at 39 Rue de Richelieu, 75001, Paris.
When I first moved to Paris the last thing on my mind was eating burgers and fries or onion rings with bbq sauce. However after months of cheese, baguette, pasta and such, I was hungry for a good bit of grease. Thanks to Anastasia Nielsen for discovering this little gem of a place. They also make great breakfasts including eggs benedict, pancakes and hash browns, YUM!

Have a nice day!
A evening I won’t ever forget. A picnic with Laurent on Ile de la Jatte, Courbevoie during the most magnificent day of June so far.
